| Under Children welfare program Masjid Council runs two centres for the abundoned children. The program provides shelter, education, health care service and other necessary opportunities to the abandoned children to make them grow as good human beings with two fundamental objectives: (i) saving human lives, and (ii) helping the abandoned children to become worthy citizens. |

Abandoned children ranging from new-born to 15 years of old are recruited through various channels comprising individual and organizational contact, media report and advertisement in electronic media from across the country irrespective of their color, cast and creed - be they are of normal appearance, physically challenged or mentally retarded.The children are provided with balanced food under direct supervision of an internationally acclaimed dietician. A cadre of highly motivated full-time substitute mothers take care of the children so their emotional requirement is met. They are provided with healthcare facilities, including treatment and check up, by a registered doctor. Besides, specialized doctors are consulted with as and when required. The disabled children are provided with case-specific treatment in top-grade specialized hospitals of the country.
Children’s extra-curricular and recreational facilities have been ensured by trained personnel.

Masjid Council has plans to support the children until they become established and self-reliant. However, each of them will have the right to take decision independently to choose their continuity with the program upon reaching legal adulthood. But they will have to abide by all legal procedures once taking such decision. The children would be provided necessary counseling and access to information to reach informed decision as to choosing education stream and career. Their marriage and social-life-issues will also be taken care of.
The program runs two separate shelter homes - one for the boys and the other one is for the girls. The girls’ home is situated at Uttara - one of the most prestigious residential areas of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. And the boys and disabled children’s home is at Tongi - adjacent to Dhaka city. Started in 2000 the program currently houses a total of 60 children including 9 disabled.
